Eid il Adha (Hari Raya Aidiladha) Events and Qurban
Eid il Adha was celebrated in southern California on Friday, Nov 27, 2009. MIFNA did not organize Eid il Adha prayer this year. Members went to their local mosque or the Anaheim or Ontario convention centers for Eid il Adha prayer.
The Consulate General of Malaysia and MIFNA organized a Qurban (sacrifice) for Eid il Adha. A total of 14 shares were purchased at $175 per share. Two cows were sacrificed early Saturday morning, Nov 28, for the Qurban. The meat was divided up at the Consul General’s residence and part of it was used to make soup and curry, which was served at the Eid al Adha lunch held at the Consul General’s residence in San Marino. Approximately 100 people turned up for the lunch and took home some Qurban meat. The soup was cooked by none other than MIFNA’s own chef and vice president, Fauzi Zainal while the curry was cooked by MIFNA director, Sulaiman Abbas. Other volunteers from the Consulate and MIFNA helped with the cooking as well.
MIFNA would like to thank Encik Norman and his family for hosting the Eid il Adha/Qurban lunch at their residence. We also would like to thank all volunteers who helped with the Qurban, meat distribution, cooking and clean up for the event. Thank you to all who donated for the Qurban by purchasing shares and to those who came to the event with desserts.
